Tron’s CEO Claims CTO Lucien Chen Was Fired For Theft And Bribery

Tron’s CEO gave an update to last week’s announcement by the chief technical officer at Tron who announced his departure from the project due to too much centralization. However, in the latest cryptocurrency news, we hear the other side of the story.

Earlier this week, the CTO of TRON announced to be leaving the project. Chen was with TRON since 2017 and before leaving he stated that TRON isn’t really the project which he thought he was. He blamed it on heavy centralization and abandoning the initial goal of the project.

However, it turns out that Lucien Chen was actually fired a few months ago:

 “Suspicion of misappropriation of funds, bribery, competitive infringement, and theft of trade secrets and intellectual property.”

Tron’s CEO and founder Justin Sun confirmed the announcement on Twitter. The situation is interesting since two days ago, Lucien Chen was still listed as CTO of the company on LinkedIn. There was no official announcement that backed up his criminal history so the TRX developers and investors will be waiting in the dark for now.

The first time Chen’s crimes were mentioned was just when he started speaking out against TRON. When he announced his departure earlier this week, he stated that Tron’s CEO Sun was to blame for diluting the vision of the project. Chen made clear that TRON is no longer decentralized and is not capable of running internet applications:

 “The whole project has developed into a monetary tool without any “decentralize the web” spirit.”

Tron’s CEO was often accused of lacking technical expertise. Chen even stated on one occasion:

 “The technology platform of TRON was built by me. I certainly know that the real Internet applications cannot function in TRON network at all currently. The TRON ecosystem is still far from commercial applications that users can really apply to.”

However, as the altcoin news reported, the only proof of Chen’s crimes is Reddit and twitter threads. Many of the posts detail the accusations including misappropriation of funds, theft, and bribery.  There are hundreds of conspiracies on both sides as people are voting who the real criminal is. Chen is now even launching his own new blockchain project- Volume Network.
