Exaion, a subsidiary of the French Electric Utility company will now Join Tezos’s ecosystem as a Corporate Baker. The company wants to reduce the carbon footprint of the business and clients as well as we are reading more in our latest Tezos news.
Exaion is a subsidiary of the French multinational electric utility company EDF Group and will now be joining Tezos’ ecosystem as a corporate baker. In a press release, Exaion is EDF’s arm that specializes in blockchain solutions and high-performance cloud computing. The company will utilize distributed ledger technology to try and develop solutions to minimize the carbon footprint of its clients and its business operations.
Tezos is a third-generation decentralized blockchain project which is created and managing distributed applications. By providing an innovative liquid proof of stake consensus method, Tezos’ technology reduces the energy that is required for its stability. The CEO of Exaion and co-founder Fatih Balyeli asserted that choosing Tezos “came naturally” because of the aforementioned reasons. He also said that “Baking on Tezos allows the company to significantly reduce energy consumption and is in line with our sustainable development policy while keeping a high-quality digital offering.”
The name “bakers” represents a block creator which have a similar role as miners in other blockchain projects based on the proof-of-work consensus algorithms such as Bitcoin. Each block is created by a selected baker which is then endorsed by other bakers and validated by the rest of the network. The main difference with PoW comes as bakers lock their XTZ tokens as collateral to ensure that the blocks are validated correctly. This will spike network participation and enhance network security.

As in the recent Tezos news, Tezos and Microsoft will work together to boost the startup industry in India. The innovation management company Lumos Labs specializes in technology and has now created the “Century Program” in cooperation with Microsoft. Tech Mahindra will join the force as well and the KODA AUTO division as well as TEzos India so they can focus on the Indian-based startup blockchain space. The goal is to “evangelize, heal and unearth” 100 solutions that are based on the blockchain with specific industrial applications. Launched in October, The Century Program will be supported by the Tezos platform so the teams of the selected solutions will get tools and guides to implement their application on the XTZ blockchain.
