Ripple CEO disagrees with Coinbase’s apolitical policies to which many employees left the company as we reported in the latest Ripple XRP news.
While urging company employees to vote and to volunteer in the elections in November, Ripple CEO disagrees with the apolitical procedures of Coinbase. Brad Garlinghouse is the latest popular individual to criticize the apolitical approach taken by the crypto exchange Coinbase. Ripple offered employees paid time off to vote and to volunteer in the upcoming US Presidential elections. The Chief Executive Officer and veteran US-based digital asset platform Coinbase raised many controversies after posting a blog post. He argued that his company will remain laser-focused on the mission to ascent s a crypto exchange and the employees need to avert from the political discussions or endeavors.
The so-called apolitical approach received many reactions from people from the outside of the crypto space. Jack Dorsey as well criticized Armstrong’s actions. The latest to join the club was Brad Garlinghouse, the CEO of the payment protocol.

He asserted that technology companies have the obligation to assist with solving social issues:
“We think about our mission as enabling an internet of value, but we seek positive outcomes for society. I think tech companies have an opportunity – but actually an obligation – to lean into being part of the solution.”
He called these social problems “exacerbated” by tech sectors so Ripple decided to take the opposite approach. The Silicon-based company will start offering employees paid time off to volunteer and to vote in the upcoming US presidential elections. It’s also worth noting that the coin base saw about 5% of the staff leaving following Armstrong’s apolitical urge. The exchange offered exit packages to all of them disagreed with the politics.
Ripple also failed a lawsuit against the most widely used video-sharing platform YouTube. Ripple claimed that the company did enough to fight the growing number of fake giveaways that impersonate the company executives and to also dupe thousands of dollars from victims. Garlinghouse used the opportunity to criticize YouTube and the lack of actions once more. He doubled down that ripple doesn’t do such giveaways and that people have to be cautious when they see one even it is a question of a trusted platform:
“We didn’t need to do that [giveaways]; it doesn’t help Ripple. But what it highlights is that platforms need to take ownership of the problems they are contributing to.”
