The case involves Ira Kleiman who filed the claim on behalf of his deceased brother David Kleiman. According to him, half of Wright’s bitcoin earnings belong to Kleiman, who mined Bitcoin with Wright back in the early days of crypto. The case started when Kleiman filed a lawsuit against Wright in 2018 and more documents were released in January. As of recently, Wright requested a summary judgment which could have prevented the case from going to trial, because the supposed partnership ended in 2011 and it was too late for the case to go on. His request was based on whether the oral partnership ever existed.
The orders signed by Judge Beth Bloom in Florida Federal Court rejected Craig Wright’s arguments and denied his request for a summary but the filing also found that Kleiman and Wright did share control over their bitcoin private keys based on communication between the two. It is still not clear who will win the case but this does mean that the trial will go on at the start of January 2021. In addition to the lawsuits, Wright and Bitcoin SV are even more controversial for other reasons. Wright makes many claims that he is the Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto. Bitcoin SV’s security was called into question because of the small network and experimentally huge block sizes.
Also, Craig Wright’s ex-wife Lynn Wright, testified before the court claiming she was not a part-owner of W&K Info Defense Research firm that belonged to Craig Wright.
