Valentina Mativienko who is a chairman of the upper house of the Russian Parliament and was the head at the Federation Council since 2011, urged the officials in the parliament to hurry up and deliver a draft on crypto regulation according to the reports coming from Russia in our crypto news today.
Mativienko also asked from the Russian Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media to investigate the reasons behind the delay for delivering a draft bill for crypto. According to her, the bills have already been standing for a year in the state of Duma without any changes being done whatsoever. She also urged MPs to find what holds the government from the further crypto adoption assuming that poor legislation is probably one of the reasons.
The officials pointed out that Russia has all of the much-needed data to make a digital breakthrough but the poor legislation stops the entire process.
The Chairman of the Russian state Duma Vyacheslav Volodin announced earlier this month that the bills on the digital economy, digital rights, and digital financial assets will be a priority during the next parliamentary session. He also urged the lawmakers to create a better legal environment in order for quicker development of the digital economy in the country.
Earlier this January, Anatoly Aksakov, the head of Committee on Financial Markets stated that the parliament will soon review the crypto bill setting a deadline by the end of February.
As previously reported, the Russian parliament passed a crypto bill in May 2018 in the first reading but after passing it, the bill received a lot of criticism from the members of the crypto community and the bill as returned to first reading.
