New features have been added as Monero announces the CLI v0.15.0.0 release named ‘Carbon Chamaeleon’ while approaching a new hard fork. The new upgrade was carried out this Saturday, revealed on the official Monero Reddit page.
The CLI v0.15.0.0 named Carbon Chamaeleon has been officially released. As for the release itself, anyone can run it and see that it is a suggested step to better prepare for the scheduled network upgrade, which is set to happen on Saturday, November 30, 2019.
As Monero announces a new upgrade, the team behind the network came out with an announcement and said:
“A user, service, merchant, pool operator, or exchange should run [the CLI v0.15.0.0 Carbon Chamaeleon] to be sufficiently prepared for the scheduled protocol upgrade on November 30.”
As expected, the main goal of the new release is to launch new features and ensure that the performance is enhanced and that any existing bugs are rectified. To be more specific, there is a full list of benefits which arise from the release and have been shared a month ago. These include:
- The new long-term Proof-of-Work (PoW) protocol algorithm named RandomX
- Long payment IDs which were set to be phased to promote user privacy and experience while reducing support work for services and exchanges
- Ten block lock time for incoming transactions to be implemented on the protocol level
- Transactions requiring two outputs
As Monero announces the new upgrade, there have been a lot of technical pieces commenting it. AMB Crypto was one of the sites which reported on this matter and gave focus to the GPG-signed hashes and the GUI v.0.15.0.0. With the former, users are urged to see the “integrity of binaries by verifying that they were signed in by Fluffypony” as the news outlet added.
The Monero news today also show that all of the processes need to be closed before putting the upgrade to work. As for the hard fork which is also upcoming, the KuCoin exchange shared that it will support Monero (XMR) during this time by putting a hold on all XMR deposit services. Huobi, Bittrex and other giants did not comment on the case.
At press time, Monero (XMR) is trading at $61.94 with a 2.29% decline on the day.
