Zebra Technologies has just partnered with the IOTA Foundation in order to integrate its Tangle Technology into its Savannah platform as we are reading more in the following IOTA news today.
IOTA and @ZebraTechnologies are collaborating to bring every scan in the #supplychain on the #Tangle for easy traceability and collaboration. Details in the webinar: https://t.co/Duiqbtlce6#IOTA

Both partners developed an application interface for easier data storage or data retrieval from the IOTA Tangle in only one call. With Zebra technologies, the IOTA foundation gained another big name in the industry as a partner. The foundation and Zebra Technologies presented the goals of their cooperation and the barcode scanners developed by the company will be connected to the IOTA Tangle:
“IOTA and ZebraTechnologies are working together to bring every scan in the supply chain onto the Tangle to facilitate traceability and collaboration.”
Zebra Technologies is an international company that has more than 7000 employees and more than 10,000 distribution partners with annual sales in 2018 of more than 4 billion USD. It was founded in the United States and it now manufactures a variety of data processing equipment and software. The company develops and sells the RFID readers, tablets, thermal barcodes, and barcode scanners mainly used in the manufacturing supply chain, government, and healthcare. Zebra Technologies offers the Zebra Savannah platform which provides application interfaces to transform data, products, and processes into more secure and scalable services. The company also developed a new service called “Blockchain Traceability” to send the barcode scan or RFID to the blockchain with just one API Call.

As Alex Fryer of Zebra explained that both companies have been working in recent days to enable a new RFID event to be sent to the IOTA Tangle via a single REST API called Savannah:
“One of the big benefits of blockchain is the consistency of information and the fact that everyone can access it and that there is a complete level of trust and no manipulation of that data. And when it comes to RFID the fact that there is no scan involved, that there is no real human intervention involved to get that data onto the Tangle, this is complete zero-touch compliance within the supply chain. So that is very exciting which use cases this could open up. This is very new; we build the API here in our sandbox I think two weeks ago.”
The company will offer the customers to test the API via the developer portal and all they need is an RFID scanner. IOTA built an infrastructure for the exchange of data so we will see how the new partnership will turn out.
