IOTA Started Hackathon Promoting Applications With Bosch And STM

IOTA started hackathon to promote its IOTA-based applications in various areas along with Bosch and STMicroelectronics as we can see in today’s IOTA news.

The IOTA-based open-source hub iot2tangle.io started the hackathon with sponsors like Bosch and STMicroelectronics and Sensing. IOTA started a hackathon that was financially supported by the IOTA foundation itself and other major companies in the tech industry as mentioned above.

Under the motto “Integrate everything with IOTA” various use cases of the tangle will be researched and implemented in the areas of smart cities, supply chain tracking, agriculture, environment control, and health.

The competition will start on October 26 and end on November 26 with the winners announced on December 6. The exact details of registration and the course of the event will be published on October 26 as well so all applicants have to submit their projects as Apache 2.0 licenses. Furthermore, all integrations between IoT devices and the IOTA protocol have to use the IOTA streams Framework. IOTA streams is a revised and improved version of the MAM v0 so the terms and conditions stated:

“Participants can use the I2T Streams Gateway as provided or modify it and add new connectivity features that have not yet been provided by us (BLE, LPWAN). Projects adding new features or improving existing connectivity features to the Streams Gateway will earn bonus points.”

Participants can use any type of IoT device with the restriction of Arduino boards as they are connected to another platform. The community will be able to build applications and this will not be a one-time development but will provide long-term value to the IOTA ecosystem. All projects have to include clear instructions in the form of a REadME file which contains instructions for installation and setup. A Bye Order Mark has to be included and all submissions that will be not based on IOTA will not be considered.

The topmost successful projects will be added to the I2T hub and will be made available to the community. The first five places will receive a money prize of $1000 paid in IOTA.  The foundation released the final alpha version of the streams which gives users back control over the data they have collected.  Any data originating from a mobile device, or IoT sensor can be managed so the road traffic data from any vehicle can be exchange with a local ministry of transport. IOTA streams will push the integrity and security of the data so the users will resell their data via decentralized data marketplaces and benefit from it.
