A new IOTA payment system can now be used in any game or app after a developer successfully implemented the new system for all platforms across iOS, Android, Windows, Xbox and Playstation 4 as we are about to read in today’s IOTA news today.
The promising blockchain project IOTA, has been struggling with a really slow development process and a slow rate of adoption as well so it is hard to say why the project, emerging from a German blockchain foundation, has such a slow growth but competition from bigger names such as Ethereum and Cardano which don’t help in the process.
This, of course, does not mean that the company has an inferior product but the protocol is only built to facilitate the emerging machine-to-machine economy of the Internet-of-things by providing a scalable, fee-less transfer network. Earlier this week, the company was involved in one of the largest smart city initiatives in Texas and provided the platform as a solution to interoperability problems in the transportation industry.
It seems as the company’s projects are not the reason that will get IOTA closer to the masses. This was one of the reasons for the new IOTA payment system developed by a community developer after he tried to find a way to utilize the ambitious project as a payment system for games or other apps. Gaming is one of the fastest-growing industries in the tech world so IOTA’s entry into the industry could bring it closer to that specified group of people.
The implementation was also created by IOTA developer Marlon Morales shared his idea on Twitter and he included a short video that shows how IOTA’s wallet and transactions can be made from the wallet itself. Morales explained that the IOTA payment system works on all platforms that support Unity which is a cross-platform game engine that is usually used to develop video games. IOTA can now be used as a payment system on 15 other platforms including Max, PS4, PS3, Xbox, Wii, iOS, Android, Windows Phone and Linux among others.
The payment system does not have any complex features and enables the users to send and receive IOTA and check their wallet balances. The co-founder of IOTA praised Morales for his idea, saying that the wallet and the payment system is a great idea.
