IOTA launches pollen updates in an aim to find out how to commit coordicide and welcome the new era as we are reading some more in the IOTA news.
This week, IOTA launches pollen updates which describes it as a momentous milestone which is the first big step to committing successfully the coordicide and get away with it. Coordicide refers to the removal of the Coordinator which is a centralized element that manages the nascent of the network. Until it’s gone, the ambitions of being the first decentralized and feeless distributed network are only theoretical. The new update marks the launch of the testent which will eventually be used to practice coordicide before actually doing it. Co-founder David Sonstebo said:
“It is a very exciting time here at IOTA. It feels like the early days when we would release a lot of code and have the community test it out in a collaborative way. Creating and launching something new has brought a great deal of energy and enthusiasm to the Foundation and our developers.”
Pollen launched ahead of schedule because it was meant to improve processes in the IOTA foundation and to make better translations from research and deployment:
“We’ve really taken a look at our processes in the last year to assess what works and what could be improved. We’ve grown a great deal as an organization, and I think we have a system in place where it’s easier to collaborate between research and development. We’re really happy with how seamless the translation was from research requirements to engineered code, testing, and deployment.
“The next big milestone is of course Nectar, which is the next milestone on the way to IOTA 2.0. For Nectar, we will release an incentivised testnet with all of the components from the Coordicide white paper. Once battle tested by our community and the world as a whole, we will create the final release candidate and release Honey, the first fully decentralised, feeless mainnet for IOTA.”
Sonstebo continued that the node software is called Hornet and Bee and that these releases were all about realizing the genuinely decentralized DLT in consecutive steps so they wanted to make an order of bees pollinating flowers, flowers creating nectar, bees turn nectar into honey thus Pollen>Nectar>Honey.
It's impossible to encapsulate the sheer magnitude of this release in relation to the IOTA project. All I can say is that this day will forever stand out as the most important in the history of IOTA's development. The entire team deserves all the praise in the world. https://t.co/rwMfbXiJY6
