The blockchain startup GeoDB released an Android App that is specially designed to prevent the spread of the newly emerged virus COVID-19, which will store the users’ data on the IOTA Tangle. The new app offers maps based on the user data which will also allow for better visualization of the areas infected and the number of infected people as we are reading in the IOTA news today.
GeoDB is a company that specializes in the development of the blockchain-based solutions in the GEO data field and they released a new Aid Squad app yesterday. This app got the award on the Blockchain Leadership Summit 2019 and is based on the blockchain and big data protocol. This way, the app will get its value back to the users for the generation of geo data. Aid Squat also uses the IOTA tangle protocol and will store the user data for better results.
Aid Squad is decentralized and available worldwide so it can provide information about the pandemic. The app is intended to manage the current coronavirus and to even prevent future epidemics. The app offers users the major opportunity to share the symptoms and their personal data which will be used by GEODB and will create a visualization of heat maps to show the geographical distribution of the users that suffer from specific symptoms. The users of the app have to share their location and create a personal health record including their age, sex, location, and symptoms such as headache, cough, temperature and the duration of the symptoms.
After sending the data, all of the information will be accessible through the IOTA Tangle. The users will receive a ‘’karma point’’ for entering the data and the amount depends on the amount of information shared. The system also qualifies the users’ ‘’gratitude for each cause’’ by allocating Aid Squad tokens. The tokens created for the app are ethereum-based and the allocation of the tokens is done at regular intervals in proportion to the amount of the data:
‘’Each snapshot has a certain number of tokens assigned, so the tokens of the snapshot will be distributed between the causes that have been selected by the users within the data included in the snapshot. […] Once every cause has been assigned with their tokens, the snapshot is signed and stored in IOTA.’’
