One of the world’s largest and one of the most popular news outlets in the United States the New York Times (NYT) have been trying hard to find someone who understands blockchain inside-out in order to develop a proof-of-concept (PoC) that will improve the news publishing technology which we are reading more about in our altcoin news below.
What is interesting is that the original listing from the Time’s website has been taken down and is currently unavailable on other listings sites such as Indeed where it still however, visible.
The reasons why the job listings were removed are still unknown. At the time of writing, the New York Times still hasn’t responded to the many requests from multiple sources why this is the case. The listing said that the news giant is seeking a ‘’forward-looking leader who will help envision and design a blockchain-based proof of concept for news publishers.’’
To be more specific, the Lead, Blockchain Exploration position at the New York Times means that a proof-of-concept algorithm needs to be developed within the newspaper’s research and development branch in order to bring clearer vision and improved public identity for other future projects.
The candidates who wish to apply for this position should already have a quite impressive record in real-world application of new technologies but also ‘’a mixed skill set with some experience in at least 3 of: journalism, product, design, software development, hardware engineering and user research.’’
According to the information in the listing provided, the applicants should also have a very strong understanding of how the New York Time positions itself in the ever-changing media technology ecosystem. Also, the candidates should be able to demonstrate a knowledge in leading innovation and using the emerging, cutting-edge technologies within the media sector or other more creative areas.
The hiring of new candidates should be expected to first select, recruit and train the first stakeholders of the project as well as onboard project advisor from multiple news agencies and social media companies as well.
The description of the listing further explains that the position is a temporary one with a limit of 12 month-term.
The NYT have published multiple blockchain-skeptic articles in the past but have since published a lot of long reports on Facebook’s alleged crypto project.
