The popular altcoins Ethereum Classic Vision and Ethereum Nowa are allegedly obtaining the private keys of users after trying to redeem their ‘’forked’’ coins. The ethereum news comes after a report was sent to crypto media outlet Cointelegraph.
Ethereum Nowa’s official website, where you can clearly see there isn’t a white paper available, has a complete description of the process how to obtain ETN. There you can also read that the users should first send ETH to a specified address and then export the private keys that will help them redeem the cryptocurrencies.
One user on the Ethereum block explorer Etherscan has pointed out that the address is actually fake and warns other users not to send their assets there. The tool that makes possible to claim the coins is a clone to the popular Ethereum wallet-MyEtherWallet with the original logo and website.
The difference between the original wallet and the fake address is that MyEtherWallet lets the users choose how to access the wallet rather than the other one where it is required to paste the private keys.
The hard fork of Ethereum Classic Vision is happening today according to the project’s white paper announced on their official website where you can see that:
“Regardless of which authorized wallet you use to hold your ETH, your free ETCV will be initially sent to the official Ethereum Classic Vision wallet. While we are currently in negotiations with a number of popular wallets, at the moment of the fork we will not be able to send ETCV to those wallets due to certain differences in the algorithms used.”
