Ethereum’s co-founder Anthony Di Lorio plans to sell his crypto software firm Decentral and shift from crypto to non-crypto ventures according to the latest reports that we have in our latest ethereum news today.
Ethereum’s co-founder Anthony Di Lorio founded ethereum in 2014 alongside GavinWoods, Vitalik Buterin, Charles Hoskinson, Joseph Lubin, and more. He founded Decentral in 2014 but now he plans to sell his company and move away from crypto ventures as he said:
“I want to diversify to not being a crypto guy, but being a guy tackling complex problems.”
Di Lorio is a professional marketer and early BTC adopter who helped start the development of Ethereum back in 2014. Now he will sell his company because of the high-risk profile of crypto:
“I don’t feel necessarily safe in this space. If I was focused on larger problems, I think I’d be safer.”
Decentral which Di Lorio founded in 2014 calls itself an innovation hub for disruptive and decentralized technologies. It is somewhat a smaller version of Consensys which is the Ethereum software development company started by Joseph Lubin. Decentral’s biggest product is the Jaxx Liberty crypto wallet. Ethereum’s most famous founder Vitalik Buterin was a programmer while Gavin Woods and Charles Hoskinson brought technical elements to the table and Di Lorio played the part of a financier.

His investment in Ethereum’s development paid dividends as the currency exploded to a record price this year. It has a current market cap of $233 billion but it is unknown what chunk of that Di Lorio actually ownes as Forbes pegged him as a billionaire in 2018 when ETH’s price was lower than the current $1900. Though his departure came the same week as Dogecoin’s founder Jackson Palmer said crypto is malicious, Di Lorio wasn’t hateful towards crypto as he said:
“I will incorporate crypto when needed, but a lot of times, it’s not. It’s really a small percentage of what the world needs.”
Like Palmer, he’s backed away from space over time and according to the Ethereum history book by Camila Russo, he stepped back from Ethereum after his co-founders chose to go non-profit. In 2019, he stepped down as Decenrtal’s CEO to focus on other, more interesting things.
