Ethereum leads in the blockchain gaming field according to the latest reports by DappRadar, the dapp data aggregator and EOS and TRON are now falling behind despite the merits of both platforms as we are about to read in the ETH news below.
The report’s authors claim that the increase in Ethereum dapps ecosystem has been spiked by the wider upward trend in the gaming field where EOS and Tron have benefited less this period. They wrote:
“2019 has witnessed Ethereum reinforce its primary position for blockchain gaming as the challenge of seemingly more capable blockchains such as EOS and Tron has fallen away.”
Despite the increase in user activity, monetization is still a huge problem according to the report which notes that only a few other game operators still use their own ERC20 tokens with most of them making use of the tradable non-fungible tokens. As the Ethereum blockchain is popular for gaming dapps developers to create NFT markets, ‘’in the vast majority of cases, we’re not talking about entire games running on the blockchain.’’
In either case, Ethereum leads the blockchain filed while EOS and TRON fall behind. The game title My Crypto Heroes was mentioned which charges the users 0.1 ETH a month for their VIP prime subscription service. The game had a few hundred players and reached well over 3,500 players by the end of the year and is the only dapp to sustain the audience of more than 1,000 daily active wallets. There are more good news for Ethereum in the report which stated that the blockchain platform still remains the only blockchain to-date that ‘’successfully nurtured dapps across four categories including decentralized finance, exchanges, games and gambling and high risk.’’
The authors claim that the daily active unique wallets in the Ethereum dapp ecosystem increased 118 percent this year and reached over 19,000 by mid-December. They also noted that DeFi has the smallest user base but highest value, exchanges are more widely used with less value while the games marketplace will generate insignificant value despite their high activity.
In comparison, the daily activity for EOS dapps increased in the first half of the year at 54,000 daily wallets while in April the total number of daily active unique wallets interacting with TRON dapps reached 30,000 and then dropped to 17,500.
