As of recently, Ethereum is in the focus of our digital currency news. Aside from its growth, it seems like big things are happening in the background for Ethereum (ETH) – more specifically, its core developers. A new meeting has discussed the need for a new hard fork – or network upgrade – in which the developers said that they are actively in need of a coordinator.
As we reported a month ago, the lead release manager at Ethereum’s infrastructure Afri Schoeden has quit all of the Ethereum projects after one controversial tweet sparked outrage on social media.
Schoeden’s quit led to a conversation among the core developers at ETH which concerned the search for a new candidate to be a new hard fork coordinator, as well as a detailed description of the role and the tasks associated with it.
According to the community relations manager at Ethereum, Hudson Jameson, the roles of the new hard fork coordinator during the developer meeting call will include the following:
“A hard fork coordinator in my mind decides hard dates for submitting EIPs [Ethereum Improvement Proposals] for consideration, deciding on those EIPs, implementation and testing, and then finally what day the hard fork would be.”
Jameson also noted that such a coordinator “would not be a dictator in his regard” but would instead suggest different options after considering all of the relevant data. Another core developer named Lane Rettig also declared that he thinks that Ethereum developers would “lie to do hard forks more often” and that the coordinator can help with this big time.
