The crypto asset management company Electric Capital published a report that reached our ethereum news today, which shows that Etehruem has the most developers who are working on its base protocol of all cryptocurrencies and we are about to find out how that is the case.
According to the report, the company fingerprinted more than 20,000 code repositories in order to obtain data which later showed that about216 developers contribute code to ETH repositories each month. Also, the data is ‘’undercounting the number of Ethereum developers since we do not include ecosystem projects like Truffle.’’
Bitcoin as the number one cryptocurrency also has a solid developer base with 50 developers per month without the ecosystem projects. It turns out that Ethereum is more active than Bitcoin with 99 developers per month on average. BTC has an average of 47 core protocol developers each month.
The data also shows that platforms such as Tron, EOS, and Cardano all have more than 25 core protocol developers per month on average.
Another important point of the report is that despite the fact that the market lost about 80 percent since it initially peaked, monthly active developer base declined by 4 percent. Also, the number of developers who are working on public coin repositories doubled over the past two years.
The report points out that ‘’many projects who are being abandoned by developers are forks of high network value coins.’’ Dogecoin hasn’t had developers for a long time now while Litecoin dev base has dropped from 40 developers to only three.
