There are more than 1,000 decentralized applications, known as DApps, that have been deployed onto the Ethereum network since 2017. The data comes from the analytics startup Alethio, whose owner Christian Crowley shared the data at the “ConsenSys Community Day” held this week at the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange. The data was reported on by Finance Magnates.
Meanwhile, Crowley’s company is building a real-time Ethereum analytics platform. According to him, more than 1,090 DApps have been developed for Ethereum since the beginning of 2017 (even though some have not yet gone live on the network).
Ethereum’s nature is known for the smart contracts which are used to run “unstoppable applications” which can operate without the need for a third-party intermediary. However, Ethereum has yet to find its ‘killer DApp’ as the news says.
Only two DApps, according to data from DappRadar, have managed to accrue more than 1,000 daily active users. We are talking about IDEX and ForkDelta, both of which allow users to trade ERC-20 tokens without placing their funds in an exchange-controlled wallet.
The world’s most famous DApp, CryptoKitties, has just 536 daily active users. However, the project managed to achieve a $12 million Series A funding round because VCs are bullish that digital collectibles will prove to be one of blockchain technology’s first consumer use cases awaiting widespread adoption.
