Dogecoin’s Co-Creator Billy Markus Holds Nearly $42K In DOGE

Dogecoin’s Co-creator Billy Markus holds nearly $42,000 in DOGE coins as he took it to Twitter to express the frustration about online trolling but showed his respect for DOGE developers who continue to work on the project as we can see more today in our dogecoin news today.

Dogecoin’s co-creator Billy Markus wanted everyone to know that he doesn’t speak on behalf of DOGE. Markus holds 22K DOGE and while the Twitter community trolled him about his frustrations with the project, he said he respects the developers that work on it. Billy Markus is the co-creator of the original meme coin and he reminded his followers that he doesn’t speak on the behalf of the project.

He revealed his DOGE holdings which reach up to $41,800 at current prices. In a thread posted that he is no longer working on the Dogecoin project:

“I am not on the project. I am a community member. I hold about 220k Doge.”

Markus even went on to say that he will not return to coding his creation and wrote:

 “Working on a crypto project is terrible, as I have actually found the more you do for people, the more entitled they get and worse they treat you.”

Despite his frustrations, he said he respects the developers that volunteered to continue working on the project and said:

“I will defend those who I feel are actively making the space better. I will discourage those who I feel aren’t.”

Launched in 2013, by Billy Markus and Jackson Palmer as a joke but it later became one of the most popular crypto assets in the market. Elon Musk is the main celebrity supporter of this cryptocurrency and he shilled DOGE which resulted in swaying prices. After his company, Tesla reversed course on accepting BTC payments due to environmental concerns but he embraced Dogecoin even more aggressively. He worked with Dogecoin developers from afar and last week he tweeted that he is “pro Doge.”

Ironically, Shiba Inu was also created as a parody but of Doge and it outperformed DOGE in 2021 as it increased by 42,000% vs Doge’s rise of $3000%. SHIB is worth a fraction of the penny of DOGE and DOGE is the 12 cryptocurrency with a market cap of $25.56 billion.
