A week ago, the CEO of Dash LatAm George Donnelly announced that the group devoted to promoting the Dash cryptocurrency throughout the region was shutting down – right after the Dash DAO (the body making the decisions about approving or rejecting projects) denied its largest funding proposal.
“We will continue offering advice and support, both face-to-face and remote, to the merchants who were left helpless after the forced end of Dash LatAm’s activities in Venezuela and Latin America,” the 10 former members of the association said in a joint statement.
As explained on one website, Dash LatAm is an organization which fosters the crypto adoption around the Dash coin. It is also the Dash Colombia, Dash Venezuela Remittances team as well as new organizations from Latin America including countries like Peru, Brazil, Mexico and other parts of the world.
Right now, the Dash news show that the group is struggling and is on the verge of dying. An official statement emerged too, written by Dash Los Teques head Richard Jerez and signed by the representatives of Dash LatAm – outlining the plans to continue with the operations throughout Latin America.
Obviously, the news sparked some nervousness in the Latin American community and were not well accepted by crypto and Dash enthusiasts. The Dash Core Group, which is the main organization behind the cryptocurrency globally, said that Dash LatAm is a bridge towards Latin America and Venezuela and how they remain markets that are vital.

“We also want to emphasize that we continue to firmly believe in decentralization and Dash’s system of governance, [and] that we do not share the latest views expressed by George Donnelly about Dash,” the now-former members of Dash LatAm said.
According to the head of Dash Valencia, Dash LatAm currently has enough resources to continue working even without Donelly and his leadership. Edgar Caballero said that the team “has been supported [by some masternode owners, or MNOs] and beside donations, we have received guidance on what some MNOs expect from our team in Venezuela.”
However, the new Dash LatAm team (without Donelly) has a long way to go – the group received only just over 7 DASH which is equivalent of around $480 at today’s prices and is far less than the 44 DASH tokens (roughly $25,085) which the group previously asked for from the DAO in order to stay afloat.
