The latest coronavirus news show that the UK coronavirus testing and contact tracing will be initiated today. In fact, the British government had already prepared to roll out the large-scale project and trace people.
As you may not know, this system is designed to prevent a second major wave of coronavirus infections. While other countries’ experiences offer case studies and cautionary tales, Britain is taking a leap forward. Starting today, the UK coronavirus testing will address people who have potential symptoms.
If positive, they will be asked to list everyone they have recently been in close contact with for at least 15 minutes. Those people will be contacted and asked to isolate themselves for 14 days, which is how the contact tracing works.
This new program by the UK government is the latest such campaign around the world which is designed to gauge how testing and contact tracing can affect the specific transmission of the virus. The results have so far been mixed.
Meanwhile, the United States shows that the virus death toll has surpassed 100,000 recently, and large-scale testing of people who might have been infected did not happen as the virus spread with ferocity from late January to early March.
While the UK coronavirus testing is on, we can see that even countries that have provided ample testing have not escaped second-wave infections. Notably, Singapore traced the close contacts of every infected patient from the start and shut down its border to prevent the virus from spreading. However, a few months later, the cases began soaring within crowded dormitories where migrant laborers live.
While there is still no cure to this novel virus, blockchain tech is apparently used more in order to source medical equipment and somehow lead to COVID-19 immunity. You can read more about this in our blockchain news.
All in all, the pandemic is making matters even worse lately as governments are clueless on what to do to stop the outbreak. Even though many countries managed to drastically reduce the numbers of infected people, there are still new cases. The economy seems to be suffering the most, which is why the lockdown has been lifted in many countries throughout Europe.
