Coinbase will develop a BAYC animated short film in a three-part series that will feature Bored Ape characters that will be submitted by the community members as we can see more today in our latest Coinbase news.
Coinbase will develop a BAYC animated short film and the NFT owners can submit their characters for potential inclusion in the series. The Bored Ape Yacht Club will expand into the entertainment world with a series of animated short films produced by Coinbase dubbed “The Degen Trilogy.” Created with the approval of Yuga Labs, the Degen Trilogy will include characters based on the Bored Ape Yacht Club and the collection of 10,000 disinterested-looking Apes, and the ApeCoin will also be included. The first film in the series will debut at NFT.NYC in June alogn with two other entries that will follow over the next year.
Coinbase developed the concept of the series as a tie-in to the upcoming NFT marketplace but in an effort to embrace the decentralized community of the Bored Ape owners, the exchange will work with the NFT holders and will feature their characters in the film. The NFT which is a unique type of token used to prove ownership over a digital asset gained a lot of popularity over the past year. The Bored ape Yacht Club NFT holders can submit their characters for consideration via the website’s official portal along with their personal descriptions of the apes. The casting director will consider the submission and will choose characters to appear in the animated films. The Coinbase Entertainment and Culture Marketing Director William Swann said:
“We’ve been inspired by the Bored Ape Yacht Club community and excited to invite them to co-create this film with us.”
The short films will premiere at live events and with additional viewing will be revealed soon. However, while the Coinbase wallet is required to access the film’s site, the representative said it will not be required to see the films. The BAYC is one of the most popular NFT projects on the market and its ETH-based collections generated up to $3.2 billion in total combined secondary market trading volume. The cheapest NFT now listed on the marketplace is pried 109 ETH. Last October, the bored Ape creator Yuga Labs announced that it signed a veteran music industry executive to represent the proejct and expand its ambitions in Hollywood. Yuga Labs also acquired the Meebits NFT project properties and will launch an online metaverse gaming space dubbed Otherside.
