A week after the release of its plan on the subject of coronavirus spread throughout the globe, Coinbase employees are making certain recommendations to its users to prepare for the next phase, and they are not the lonely in this as we are reading in the latest coinbase news.
Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong Tweeted a Tweet to his 300,000 + followers on March 2nd of 2020, which indicated that the cryptocurrency company will give directions to certain Coinbase employees to work from home. Within an hour, Ryan Selkis, the founder of Messari, had a similar post, stating in his message that the company would be “going remote first and will be scrapping most planned business travel for the next couple of months.”
Brian Armstrong shared an updated version of the Coinbase plan while emphasizing the impact that COVID-19 has had on the company since the outbreak began spreading in January.
“…we are starting to see the first documented instances of community transmission in the areas of our Portland and SF offices. We’ve seen a handful of cases in Chicago and just saw the first case in New York. We continue to see community transmission in Japan.”
Among the measures that Coinbase suggested was for employees to bring to minimum personal travel, particularly internationally. Those that had greater risk to contract the virus will begin to work from home. Furthermore, Coinbase is also restricting business travel to China, Honk Kong, Japan, Italy, and South Korea.
“Working from home is not a complete solution, but it may help slow the growth of infections.”
Ryan Selkis stated that his company will not be neutral in relation to the potential harms on the health of its employees that can be caused by COVID-19. In a statement posted on the company website. Ryan Selkis made the decision that the cryptocurrency analytics firm would “go remote-first indefinitely”. Citing the poor response of the U.S. government to contain the epidemic, Messari base is in New York City, the founder stated that besides the fact that his team was young and healthy the omissive behavior was irresponsible:
“…a temporary remote move is less about our team’s well being, and more about being a proactive part of the solution to a much larger potential problem.”
