The Cardano Daedalus wallet will be receiving its biggest update yet and will bring support for the upcoming ADA protocol that delivers token support to the blockchain so let’s read more in our latest Cardano news.
What stands out from the plenty new features introduced is the ability to register to vote for the Catalyst Fund3 project, thus removing unnecessary steps from the on-chain governance. The Cardano Daedalus wallet was developed by IOHK and received the biggest upgrade yet. The update was made ready for Mary which is the upcoming hard fork event that will bring native token support to Cardano.
Version 3.3.0 will bring other updates as well to the wallet including SMASH servers, metadata transactions, ADA deposits, fee processing, and support for Ledger devices that are configured with a secondary PIN. Daedalus can now show the converted value of users’ wallets balances in fiat or crypto and the conversion rates will be provided by CoinGecko but IOHK noted that all conversions should be used as a reference.
Users can be able to import wallets from the secret.key files that are located in the state directories of the old versions of the wallet which represents a huge update for users that have lost their wallet recovery phrases and the new version will also allow for importing of wallets with spending passwords. The biggest functionality in the 3.3.0 version is the addition of the Project Catalyst Fund3 voting registration and while still in the experimental phase, the Catalyst is a program that will bring on-chain governance to ADA. The platform will enable ADA holders to vote on the campaigns and to boost the growth of Cardano while receiving rewards for participating.

The latest version of the wallet will enable users to register and vote for proposals in the Fund3 directly in the wallet. The Catalyst Project voting will utilize another update which is added support for transaction metadata and will also enable transactions displayed on the wallet to contain more metadata info aside from containing other native assets in the near future. Transaction metadata will be used to provide more context for transactions which will eventually be extremely useful as both these proposals and the voting process become complex.
