After getting its account terminated from Coinbase, the controversial social media platform Gab is now using the Cash App from Square to send and receive Bitcoin and we read more in our crypto news update today.
As previously reported by DC Forecasts, Gab was founded in 2016 and presents itself as the place where you can practice free speech online. It got the public’s attention after the shooter at the Pittsburgh synagogue used the platform. The shooter took it to the platform to indicate that he has the intention to do his crime prior he actually did.
Gab was accused of being as a platform for extremist and right-wingers and was banned from the Google App stores and Apple as well.
Previously it was reported that Gab’s corporate account on the number one US crypto exchange Coinbase has been frozen and right after that the personal account of the founder of Gab Andrew Torba was also shut down.
Gab took it to Twitter to advocate for cryptocurrency saying that cryptocurrencies ‘’ are the route to freedom from central banks, financial censorship, and a rigged financial system.’’ However, another Gab tweet has implied that decentralization should be sacrificed sometimes in order for censorship to be applied in the wanted areas such as child pornography.
Coinbase shut down the merchant account of Torba but this isn’t the first case. Coinbase also terminated the account of WikiLeaks last April due to terms of service violation. The founder of WikiLeaks, Julian Assange urged all of the donors to donate to the online publication in cryptocurrency in order to bypass the financial blockade by the national governments.
