United States Space Force Will Use Blockchain To Enhance Security

The United States space force will start using the blockchain technology thanks to the blockchain security firm Xage as we are reading more in today’s blockchain news.

The United States space force has awarded the blockchain firm Xage a cybersecurity contract. The security protocol will now decentralize the USSF data systems and will ensure maximum uptime and security. The latest partnership could seriously prove astronomical for further blockchain adoption. Blockchain-centric cybersecurity company Xage secured the contract to create a decentralized end-to-end protection protocol from the US space force. The company will get engaged in securing data across the USSF military and civilian assets with the solution geared to enable granular identity-based verification in order to gain access to a USSF system. This includes systems deployed in space and on earth, as per the press release:

“By protecting data across a diverse architecture, commercial operators, and multiple parties, the USSF can create trusted situational awareness in real time, and block various dangerous spoofing or command intrusion attacks.”

Originally a branch of the US Air Force, the United States Space Force became an independent organization in 2019. With a mandate to protect the interests of the US in space and accelerate the development of the new military space capabilities, the United States Space Force demands a robust security system. According to Xage, the blockchain protocol will distribute and decentralize UFFS data ensuring against single points of failure. In a case of compromised or disconnected ground resources, the Space Force’s satellites will continue to function. Xage CEO Duncan Greatwood said:

“The USSF requires decentralized enforcement of security to establish space domain resilience and objective situational awareness––across every asset and data element. We built the Xage solution to serve the needs of complex critical infrastructure systems, and are excited to bring the Xage solution to the Space Force in the form of a blockchain-protected space system security.”

The United States Air Force acting jointly with the Department of Defense has given a contract to Fluree to develop a blockchain-based communication platform. Fluree was founded in 2016 by Brian Paltz and Andrew J. Filipowski. The company is based in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and has reminded a small player in the blockchain space. It released its blockchain database in August of 2018 and in June of 2019 got a seed funding worth of $4.7 million.
