Ultra’s Blockchain Platform Gets Included In Atari’s VCS Console

Ultra’s blockchain platform will now get included in Atari’s VCS consoles and the users can not purchase games from Ultra as we are reading in the latest blockchain news.

Atari is looking into using Ultra’s blockchain platform to feature the games. Atari will give the video console another try with the launch of a new VCS which is billed as a console PC and classic games as well.

According to the announcement, it will utilize Ultra’s blockchain-based game delivery system. Atari VCS owners will also be able to access Ultra’s PC game shop from the device and will let them purchase and download multiple games from AAA tiles to smaller indie experiences. Some of the other Ultra features include trading of NFT tokens and live streaming that will be available on the VCS.

This will be a two-way partnership as Atari is exploring the use of this blockchain’s technology including the NFT framework. It could also update the classic game properties with blockchain-driven features but also Atari game franchises such as Missile Command and Rollercoaster Tycoon will get a release on the platform s well. Atari announced a $4 million deal with Animoca Brands who is a published of crypto games and even made Animoca the exclusive provider of blockchain-based content for the Atari VCS. Animoca will publish crypto infused versions of games such as Centipede and Lunar Lander. Michael Arzt, the COO of Atari VCS and Connected devices said:

 “While the Atari VCS pays homage to the hardware company’s pioneering efforts to bring gaming to the masses, it’s also designed to move Atari forward in exciting new ways. We look forward to working closely with Ultra to help make the VCS the most blockchain-friendly gaming and entertainment system and to introduce a huge network of gamers and hardware fans to this amazing new frontier.”

Atari’s new VCS is a fresh gamble from the revolutionized video gaming but it also traded hands a few times in the decades since the starting days in the 190s. It will compete against the new Sony PlayStation 5 and Microsoft Xbox Series X and Series S consoles, starting a sale for $400 with a joystick and modern gamepad.

While this partnership sees the VCS implement a blockchain gaming platform, Atari has had its own internal crypto ideas. Launched earlier this year, the Atari Token is an ETH-based ERC20 token which will be used for online gaming and other gaming-related ideas. Ultra users will also be able to purchase the  VCS console from the store using the Atari tokens or the Ultra UOS currency. According to the Atari token website:
