Taco Bell wants people to get married in the Metaverse, as the fast food company and the Metaverse Platform Decentraland are collaborating to provide US couples the opportunity to have their marriage ceremony in the Metaverse.
The company has invited engaged couples to compete for the brand’s first legally recognized Metaverse wedding package, which includes a ceremony and celebration in the virtual world of Decentraland. Taco Bell wants people to get married in the Metaverse, but what will that look like?
The ceremony and reception will feature NFT invites and custom-designed wedding apparel, according to Taco Bell.
The couple will be able to invite virtual guests, who will be able to participate in all of the conventional wedding day festivities such as musical entertainment, dancing, and eating (virtual) food.
Engaged couples may enter the campaign to win the brand’s first Metaverse wedding package from August 25 to September 6.
According to the press release, the union will be legal and conducted by a certified wedding officiant. Taco Bell will live broadcast the whole ceremony, and thereafter, the pair will get a marriage certificate via NFT.

This isn’t the first time Taco Bell has made an appearance in the virtual world; in 2017, the brand debuted its Las Vegas Cantina’s Wedding Package, a virtual Las Vegas wedding alternative.
Decentraland, which debuted in 2020, is a virtual social realm powered by the Ethereum blockchain.
How To Apply
Engaged couples must fill out a registration form to enter the Taco Bell metaverse wedding contest. In addition, they must submit a film detailing their love story, why they want to marry in the metaverse, and their love of Taco Bell. Taco Bell’s metaverse wedding website will accept applications.
Furthermore, each person will only be allowed one entry. They may also post their film on social media with the hashtag #TacoBellMetaverseWeddingContest and tag @tacobell. Then they must provide social media video links on the webpage.
Once chosen, the brand will collaborate closely with the couple to plan the wedding of their dreams. This encompasses everything from selecting a wedding officiant to planning the wedding clothing.
Virtual Wedding Popularity Increasing
Virtual marriages are becoming increasingly prevalent as metaverses grow in popularity. For example, a couple from the Indian state of Tamil Nadu staged a wedding banquet in the metaverse earlier this year. The Hogwarts-themed celebration took place on the Polygon blockchain in collaboration with TardiVerse Metaverse.
Some couples, like an Indian pair, have had “blockchain” weddings complete with NFT vows and a digital priest. Similarly, at a traditional Jewish ceremony last year, a US couple exchanged NFT rings. We can probably anticipate the virtual wedding trend to continue as metaverses grow more popular.
