A Sony Europe Division has joined the Theta Labs Enterprise Validator and Governance council Program according to a new press release that we have in our latest cryptocurrency news.
Sony Europe’s R&D Center Europe Brussels Lab joined Theta as an enterprise validator and member of the governing council to take part in strategic technology planning and to ensure the security, stability, and reliability of the network. As a member, Sony will operate as an enterprise validator node that is located in Europe to support the network by joining validators like Binance, Samsung, Google, Blockchain Ventures, and Gumi.
The Theta protocol validator program provides a native implementation of off-chain micropayments that are able to scale millions of video viewers as Magdalena Wasowska who is the head of Sony Europe said:
“At R&D Center we share Theta Network’s passion towards decentralized technologies, and are excited about the possibilities which blockchain technologies can offer to creators.”
Wasowska sadi that the possibilities include tools for license and rights management as well as innovative, new solutions for content distribution networks like Theta. The protocol launched its native proof-of-stake blockchain purpose-built for Decentralized video and data delivery two years ago and advanced towards full decentralization of its security which is supported by validator nods and node network. The development came a few years after Sony’s Innovation fund made an investment in Theta Labs during the seed equity round in 2016. The co-founder and CEO of Theta Labs Mitch Liu said:
“We’re thrilled that Sony Europe R&D Center Europe Brussels Laboratory has joined us as an enterprise validator accelerating Theta’s adoption and hyper-growth plans this year.”
Liu commented that the company’s support and encouragement gave Theta more confidence that they are headed in the right direction with the works. THETA on the other hand is trading at $3.68 with a market cap of $3.6 billion.
As reported recently, Theta will release a limited edition of NFTs to celebrate the Mars Rover landing that happened on February 18th with the minting of special NASA-themed NFTs on the Livestream site Theta.tv . NFTs represent tangible or intangible items on the blockchain and they can verify the ownership and uniqueness of the assets with major use cases ranging from in-game collectibles to digital art.
