In the latest cryptocurrency news, we are focusing on the topic of blockchain – and one of the largest software giants out there, Salesforce. According to latest news, the giant has recently won a patent in which it outlined its plans on how a blockchain-based platform can be used to prevent spam or other (unwanted) emails from people’s inboxes.
This patent is aiming at keeping the plagues of emails away from people (with full inboxes). As the official document reads, the blockchain platform can be used to check whether emails are changed or tampered with after being sent through a custom matching system. The system can also efficiently filter spam when compared with its existing protocols, according to the document.
By using a matching system, the platform will determine whether an email being sent is legit or not. When a user sends an email, a portion of it will be recorded on a blockchain platform – and when a second email user receives it, it will compare a component to determine whether it matches the section recorded onto the blockchain.
As the patent filing explains, this system can “help ensure that messages and attachments to those messages have not been modified during transit over a network.”
In that manner, it can also prevent the “undesirable messages that are often sent, abusing emails or distributing unwanted content.”
It further reads:
“The [system] can also better identify legitimate (wanted) messages and distinguish them from illegitimate (unsolicited) messages. Used properly, the immutability and distributed nature of the blockchain can make it impossible to modify information once it has been committed to the blockchain.”
The other potential uses for this concept could also help guarantee the legitimacy of medical records, educational transcripts, property rights, legal documents and more, according to the authors.
