Newest reports by the press in South Korea warned that the North Korean expands its monitoring regime of crypto-related social media as we are reading further in the latest crypto news.
NK Economy reported yesterday that North Korean firm Marine Chain is actively observed the important names in the crypto and blockchain community. This would have not been important info for most of the other companies, but in the case of Marine Chain, it has specific importance.
Established in Hong Kong in April 2018, it was concretely mentioned some months ago, in a session of the UN Security Council back in September 2019. The name of the crypto company surfaced while the North Korea sanctions report was discussed by the Council, and the Council concluded that it is a shell company.
In the meantime, the company herself made the offer to sell crypto tokens that would give the opportunity to the buyers to digitize ownership of multiple international vessels. Purchased crypto would be distributed among parties and they would have the opportunity to earn from ships.

But, after the investigation of the company by the UN, it was proven that Julien Kim is the owner of said company. Further reports reported that Julien Kim also makes use of the name Tony Walker, the name under which the promotion of Marine Chain via LinkedIn was made. It is claimed in the account that Tony lives in the Greater Denver Area, that he is an entrepreneur who made and developed the concept that was consequently developed int Marine Chain.
The aforementioned report confirms the serious interest that is developed in North Korea for the cryptocurrency industry. Also, this is not the only but it is the latest report that confirms the crypto development of North Korea. When the arrest of Virgil Griffith was reported there was another report that indirectly indicates these claims.
An example of how North Korea expands its regime is the case of Virgil Griffith who was a US citizen that lived in Singapore, who went in North Korea to lecture on cryptocurrency and blockchain themes. His aim was to aid the country in bypassing sanctions initiated by the US. The United States found out about his intentions before he went, and made contact with Griffith telling him not to go, yet he traveled to North Korea and made his lectures anyhow.
