South Korean hospitals are entering a new era of 4.0 healthcare which will mostly be based on blockchain-technology. That’s why a Leading South Korean Hospital group will start using blockchain technology to improve its quality of medical care. Yonsei Medical Center whose Vice President Yoon Dong-seop and the Vice President of the Korean Hospital Association, revealed that the hospital is working on an “open innovation platform.”

According to the reports, the platform according to Yoon will make use of blockchain technology, AI advances, and other 4.0 industries such as Big Data to manage patients’ medical records. The new platform will organically link research projects thus it will create a network of biosensor data digital neutral networks, medical devices, diagnostic devices, smart medical centers, and research data for new drugs and treatments. Yoon added that the move could help the Yonsei Medical Center to develop into a digital leader among the global medical institutions.

Despite the name, the medical center comprises three major Seoul-based hospitals with a fourth set to follow in Songdo, Incheon. The flagship Severance Hospital in Seoul’s affluent Sincheon District is set to open what it promises that it will become a world-leading heavy particle cancer ward in 2022. A huge number of South Korean blockchain firms have been exploring the use of technology in the healthcare business with some even exporting their solutions to hospitals that are based overseas.

If this proposal becomes a reality, it will be the first blockchain platform in the country which will allow citizens to decide on their local political affairs.
