The largest blockchain trade association of Canada has officially merged with the Chamber of Digital Commerce in the country. The merger was announced in an official press release that was posted by the Digital Commerce Chamber on their official website so was are looking into it some more in today’s blockchain news.
The executive director of the Blockchain Association of Canada, Tanya Woods, will be operating as the managing director of the chamber since she has previously worked for the Canadian government and Microsoft. Woods said in an official press release:
“Canada’s blockchain leaders and the government would like to see a strong and coordinated blockchain ecosystem that is ready and able to effectively collaborate with policymakers to ensure the industry in Canada will thrive.”
The executive chairman of the Blockchain Research Institute Don Tapscott, says that Canada is in a good position to become a leader in the blockchain industry and made clear that it is critical for the country to have a strong, local community that will increase the chances of wide blockchain adoption.
The Chamber of Digital Commerce was founded in 2014 in July and has more than 200 companies that are interested to invest in blockchain technology such as IBM, Microsoft, Overstock, and BitPay.
As previously reported, the Canada Border Services Agency agreed last year to trial a blockchain shipping solution that was actually created by IBM.
