in today’s crypto news we have the Italian postal service provider, Poste Italiane, as an official partner and member of the Hyperledger blockchain community. According to the reports from Cointelegraph Italia, Hyperledger will now host the Italian’s postal service provider and create open-source standards in its aim to revolutionize the postal service.
As a collaborative project that is led by the Linux Foundation which aims to create open-source standards, Hyperledger now includes several industry leaders, some of which include the names of American Express, Cisco, Intel, JPMorgan, Deloitte and Huawei.
Poste Italiane proudly shared the news in a press release, stating that Hyperledger is consistent with the service’s Deliver 2022 Business Plan – part of which involves the acquisition and acceleration of new technology in the agency’s operations.
This announcement also draws attention to data protection, stating that blockchain in this case is “an effective response to the problems of security, transparency, interoperability and privacy.”
In September 2018, the American courier delivery services giant FedEx also joined Hyperledger – where the CEO of the company Fred Smith said that blockchain has “big, big implications” for supply chains. He also said:
“We’re quite confident that it has big, big implications in supply chain, transportation and logistics.”
The news comes a week after a committee in the Italian Senate approved an amendment on blockchain industry regulation, providing definitions for DLT-based technologies and smart contracts. In the amendment, there is also a statement that a blockchain-powered digital data record will enable the legal validation of documents at the time of registration.
