One of the most powerful public officials in the world has just announced that disruptive blockchain technologies need rapid adaptation. The word is about the Indian prime minister Narendra Modi who stated the following:
“Disruptive technologies such as Blockchain and the IoT (Internet of Things), will have a profound impact in the way we live and work. They will require rapid adaptation in our workplaces.”
Modi is known as member of the world’s largest democracy. According to his recent statements, blockchain technology is going to bring seismic changes to India’s society, if adopted. The country’s foremost politician had a speech at the WITSA consortium that was attended by many country representatives and IT industry leaders that together represented over 90% of the world’s information and communications technology (ICT).

In addition to this, Modi advised on embracing the blockchain technology. His colleague and minister of law and justice and electronics and IT Ravi Shankar Prasad supported him but with a couple of limitations. He said:
“Digital empowerment can only happen if there is digital inclusion. With the advent of new technologies like AI, Blockchain and IoT, reskilling of young professionals is critical.”
What’s interesting is that these remarks come within weeks of India’s policy-making institute where blockchain applications will be explored further and possibly embraced in a number of industries including education, healthcare and agriculture.
