The latest cryptocurrency news show that the tech giant IBM is not stopping when it comes to new patents. The updates show that IBM files new patent for what is described as a blockchain based web browser.
Filed on August 6 by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), the IBM patent is geared towards a web browser that would be backed by a peer to peer network. As the altcoin news showed, the browser is designed to collect pre-specified information from web browsing sessions, according to the information submitted by the patent.
The information will then be transferred to a network of peer to peer nodes for collection and storage. Speaking of, the collection of information here will depend on the type of browsing experience chosen by the user (browsing on a work computer versus browsing on a personal one). Now that IBM files new patent for a blockchain web browser, a lot of analysts are speaking that it is definitely becoming a leader in the blockchain patent industry.
The types of potentially storable session information, as shared in the patent, will include information such as websites visited, bookmarks, task performance, geolocaiton, installation of plugins and security patches.
The company (IBM) stated that a blockchain based browser “affords a system for storing browsing information such that privacy is preserved and places privacy in the ‘hands of a user’ rather than a third party.”
One potential use case of the document is an attack on a computer’s browser. If it is secured by blockchain technology, a viable backup of all user information is available. What is interesting is that IBM included a token in their model – and said that tokens will verify users’ browser session activities as they are packaged in blocks for the peer to peer network.
The news that IBM files new patent for a blockchain web browser spread quickly on many best cryptocurrency news sites. However, the blockchain web browser by IBM is not the only one in the field.
As previously reported in our news, the Norwegian web browser Opera recently launched the iOS Opera Touch browser in June this year. The browser is built for Web 3.0 and has a built-in cryptocurrency wallet that connects seamlessly to all Web 3.0 applications including ERC-20 tokens.
