Steve Bannon, a former Trump aide, has recently made comment about the entire cryptocurrency situation. During a talk in Zurich, Switzerland, Bannon referred to cryptocurrencies as the anti-establishment tool that will “take power from the central banks”.
According to Bannon, there is still too much centralized control and constant deflation of fiat currencies which is practically a form of slavery that keeps citizens spinning on the wheel. The audience in Zurich also heard Bannon say that “central banks are in the business of debasing your currencies”, suggesting cryptocurrencies as the best replacement.
Since banks cannot control them, cryptocurrencies are attractive and according to Bannon, act as “the heart of the anti-establishment movement that empowers citizens, companies and governments alike. In a way, he described cryptocurrencies as a way to escape from the bank’s control of fiat currencies – as well as the centralized control which he pointed as a huge issue.
Bannon is well known to the masses for his former role, where he served as a Chief Strategist at the White House, during the beginning of Trump’s presidential term. Aside from that, he also worked as an investment banker for Goldman Sachs and knows the financial system well. His comments, therefore, come from a high and well established anti-political stance.
The well known investor had spent around $60 million on World of Warcraft currency according to last year’s reports. No information has been provided about his ownership of cryptocurrencies or the projects he backed.
So, whether you agree with Bannon or not, he is a well-observed public figure and with this speech, showed that cryptocurrencies and blockchain are drawing more and more attention.
