The Brave Browser can now protect you from Crypto Phishing scams thanks to the open-source technology PhishFort that adds another layer of protection to the crypto-awarding web browser as we are reading more in our blockchain news today.

The Brave Browser can now offer you protection from Phishing scams by adding the anti-phishing technology to its list of services PhishFort’s open-source technology detects these kinds of phishing scams. Web3 phishing scams are on the rise and are getting even more sophisticated. Brave, the privacy-centric web browser that blocks ads tracking and awards users with the Basic Attention Token, announced that it has further enhanced its security by adding the anti-phishing tools.

The browser implements the open-source technology of PhishFort which is an anti-phishing protection firm. Phishfort already partnered with major companies such as Binance Labs and MyEtherWallet and has been trying to detect and share the world about Web3 phishing scams. The company has been writing about the increase in scam decentralized apps that pretend to be the real thing and therefore scam users into giving up their credentials in the process:

 “When you’re a crypto-user, your username and password are only the start of your problems—and phishers are beginning to realize this. What’s new about these attacks is that they’re beginning to exploit the specific tools that we use to interface with our crypto.

“They use a combination of urgency, fear of missing out, and fear of being negatively affected (by a hard fork, ICO, token migration, or other actionable item) with the hopes that the targeted person will act quickly and never notice they are interacting with a malicious application,” reads another post.

The company’s solution is an ever-updated list of known scams and safe sits that is integrated within the Brave browser. So now when you are using Brave to interact with the Web3 dapps, you will be alerted if you are treading into unsafe water. Brave’s announcement didn’t go beyond a single tweet so the details about the integrations are slim. However, we can imagine that frequent users from the popular browser especially those that interact with crypto and dapps will most likely encounter the technology before it’s too late.
