Voice made its posts public and the decentralized social media network has announced to be fully operational soon. Block.one’s Voice delayed the launch for a while but now the $160 million social networks founded by EOSIO progenitor, is getting closer to becoming extremely popular. The posts listed on the page are mostly plugs of Block.one’s EOS cryptocurrency and news from the crypto world. One post from trade publication Crypto Writer read:
“Bitcoin Pioneer Max Keiser says Buffet wrong about Bitcoin and Gold.”
Voice is a different platform from the rest as it is decentralized and represents an anti-censorship alternative to Facebook, Medium, and Twitter. The app according to CEO Salah Michael Zalatimo boasts transparency, authenticity, and humanity by rewarding considerate posting with the crypto tokens. Voice is opening up to users a year later than expected. It was initially supposed to be launched in 2019 as the project only entered the beta testing in July because of a turbulent start that saw the platform spending $30 million on a domain name.
Block.one raised $4 billion for its EOS blockchain in 2018 and then they had some money left to spare. After gathering an additional $150 million on development, Block.one focused on the Zalatimo project who spun Voice off as a separate company. In early June, he announced the decision to launch the beta testing earlier than expected. All beta users will be able to invite friends from August 15. Zalatimo wrote:
“We had been building towards a big reveal this fall. But, we simply can’t wait any longer. We need to take social back from big tech NOW. So, we did what startups do.”
As we previously reported, Block.one invests $50,000 into a DNA testing application that is devoted to fighting the current Coronavirus pandemic. The application is based on Genobank’s Telos platform and the app is designed to facilitate anonymous access to fighting the virus.
