Block.one invests $50,000 into a DNA testing application that is devoted to fighting the current Coronavirus pandemic. The application is based on Genobank’s Telos platform and the app is designed to facilitate anonymous access to fighting the virus. Let’s find out more in the following blockchain news.
The company behind EOSIO, Block.one invests $50,000 grant as the Genobank announced at the start of this month saying that the app, Agerona was being developed alongside the EOS blockchain platform- Telos. Block.one issued the grant thanks to a new partnership with the venture capital subsidiary EOS VC and the fintech incubator from Germany Finlab EOS VC.
Agerona will connect the users anonymously with test suppliers in their country and the tests will have unique barcodes that will create a free account on the Telos blockchain for the users. The kits will be sent to a verified lab for processing and the results will be anonymously updated to the blockchain. The system allows the users to test results and to send them to analysts that will read them without being tied to the identity. Genobank CEO Daniel Uribe commented:
“[W]e are grateful to have the backing and support of Block.one’s venture arm EOS VC in aiding our efforts to anonymize DNA/RNA test kits (including coronavirus) while empowering patients and users to decide if they want their anonymized data to be available to the scientific community and help control the spread of the coronavirus and potentially contribute to a treatment.”
The chief executive of Block.one Brendan Blumer said:
“We’ve witnessed the growth of an open-source community whose passion and innovation have helped to identify and solve critical business problems in sectors ranging from art to wellness.”
The company funded multiple companies that are working on solutions to problems that relate to COVID-19. The company accomplished this thanks to the partnership with the EOS VC Grants program and the partnership with Finlab EOS VC. The recipients include health and wellness platform PUML Better Health, the AI service Innoplexus and Moonlighting. Blumer continued:
“With the onset of urgent world issues caused by the coronavirus, it is important that we empower and support the ways that blockchain technology is being applied to provide solutions.’’
