The Liberty Ecosystem is a new organisation and blockchain-based network which was recently launched by two executives from the Asia Pacific Conservative Union (APCU). The latest headlines in our cryptocurrency news brings this new project which is reportedly designed in order to fight authoritarianism.
The co-founders of the project include an APCU chairman named Jikido “Jay” Aeba as well as the co-founder and CEO of the new organisation, Yasu Kikuta. The press release notes that the new initiative is formed as a “decentralized federation of local advocacy and economic development organizations seeking to combat the rise of authoritarianism in the Asia-Pacific region and around the world.”
As the announcement reads, regimes like China invest in foreign infrastructure projects in an attempt to assert control over the political sovereignty of other countries. They use the economic power to exert political control – something which has started to result in the exportation of the authoritarian government model to other countries including Sri Lanka, Indonesia and Japan.
In the release, we can also see that the blockchain-powered project involves the use of so-called “Liberty Tokens” which will create a shared community and financial infrastructure menat to empower local organisations that are fighting authoritarianism.
This only proves that human rights activism is among the greatest use cases for Bitcoin, especially in an era where censorship and military disctatorship is still present in some countries.
