Apple launches the new upgrade for developers named CryptoKit quietly and has also released a new icon set for designers with four bitcoin logos. Let’s find out more in the latest cryptocurrency news below.
Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference is underway and the audience is mostly focused on iOS3. However, the new CryptoKit upgrade is far more popular among developers. This sparks the question: what does Apple plan for future cryptocurrency integration?
CryptoKit providers the developers a new toolkit for improved cryptographic functionality. This means that the developers will be able to integrate operations like key generation, encryption and hashing and will also be able to facilitate the use of public and private key management. According to the blog post, you can read that:
“Use public-key cryptography to create and evaluate digital signatures, and to perform key exchange. In addition to working with keys stored in memory, you can also use private keys stored in and managed by the Secure Enclave.”
The founder of TrustWallet Viktor Radchenko says that CryptoKit will bring Apple closer to the full hardware wallet functionality and stated:
“Only a few steps away before you can turn your phone into a hardware wallet.”
Frederic Jacobs, as part of the security engineering team at apple, says that the CryptoKit is ‘’a fast and secure Swift API to perform cryptographic operations.’’ Jacobs, however, didn’t respond to the requests for further comment.
Also, Apple launches another new set of icons designed for the iOS3. Among the familiar 1,000 icons, there are four new bitcoin logos. Two of them are circular BTC logos and two of them are square. There is currently no Etehreum logo nor any other logo with other cryptocurrency signs. As reported in the coming altcoin news, Samsung also took upon the initiative with crypto integration. The Galaxy S10 new phone launched earlier this year has an integrated wallet which is designed to store private keys. Samsung is also preparing for crypto asset integration into Samsung Pay which is a payment system with more than 10 million users.
The CryptoKit by Apple, on the other hand, will allow developers to perform cryptographic operations such as :
“Compute and compare cryptographically secure digests” and generate symmetric keys, and use them in operations like message authentication and encryption.”
