The Swedish Reserve Bank issued warning to its customers that several fraudsters have scammed multiple people claiming that they sell an electronic version of the national currency-the krona so we decided to find out more about it the crypto news today.
The Riksbank claims that such project hasn’t been concluded and there hasn’t been any decision brought to issue the e-krona so all of the claims about selling such currency are false. The bank pointed out that the people got scammed online or over phone calls:
‘’… on certain websites and in social media, claims have been made that it is possible to purchase e-kronas. The Riksbank has also been contacted by individuals describing how they have been called by companies claiming to be selling e-kronas on behalf of the Riksbank.

The bank urged its customers and citizens in general to contact the bank in case they receive a phone call or any other type of information about the offer to buy e-kronas.
Back in 2017, the project for issuing e-krona was initiated after the levels of cash usage dropped in the country.

Since 2009 the cash circulation in Sweden had declined by 40 percent. Cecilia Skingsley, the deputy governor of Riksbank said:
‘’The declining use of cash in Sweden means that this is more of a burning issue for us than for most other central banks. Although it may appear simple at first glance to issue e-krona, this is something entirely new for a central bank and there is no precedent to follow.’’
The bank is now trying to find other ways to increase the cash usage and one of the methods could be done by reducing the costs when banks have when handling cash.
