Zaryn Dentzel, the founder of Tuenti, had his bitcoins stolen according to a recent report and the crime happened in his house after five perpetrators broke in and tortured him for his password that contained the BTC wealth. Dentzel lived in Spain for years and he was in his house in Madrid with a friend and a maintenance worker when the doorbell rang. When he opened the door, five people entered with hoodies on and hid their identities, spraying Denztel with something in his eyes, tying him up, and covering the security cameras.
The actual assault happened after they beat him up for hours and eventually cut him and electroshock him which led to him finally giving up and saying his password out loud. He then told local authorities that he contained millions of euros worth of Bitcoin. The perpetrators also stole laptops, phones, tablets, and other electronics before fleeing. According to the attacker’s accent, the police suggest that they might have been from Eastern Europe.
These attacks only highlight the importance of investors in taking extra steps to protect their crypto wealth. Multi-signature devices could be the right solution as the investors are able to add two or more private keys to sign and to send a transaction which could enhance security in cases if the private keys are stored in different locations.
