A white hat hacker tries to recover millions in lost BTC but only managed to get $105 so let’s read more today in our latest Bitcoin news.
Lavar, who originally purchased the BTC back in 2016 added:
“We didn’t make money, but we definitely made new friends.”
The computer engineer and hardware hacker is known for recovering crypto and spent hours breaking into a phone to find a small fraction of BTC. Grand traveled from Portland to Seattle in an effort to recover millions of dollars in BTC from an old Samsung Galaxy phone owned by Lavar who is a local bus operator. He originally purchased the BTC in July 2016 in a “sketchy way” and paid a person at a cafe for storing the crypto in a wallet on the phone before putting it in storage and losing the device.
After finding the phone in 2021, LAvar was not able to recall the password but he remembers that he set up the option to erase the data if too many incorrect attempts were made. He and a friend contacted Grand after looking at these youTube videos and allowed the White Hat hacker to make a few attempts to get into the phone’s memory and recover the crypto.
The white-hat hacker tries to get the BTC but after a few attempts in downloading the memory and discovering the Samsung’s swipe pattern, Lavar opened his Mycelium BTC wallet and discovered that he only had BTC in $105 worth at that time down to $63 at the time of publication. Grand was able to determine the bus operator purchased 0 worth of BTC in 2016 most of which went to BitBlender which shut down in 2019.

Most crypto users were locked out of their wallets and lost access to physical devices that held BTC over the past years and one of the biggest examples was a Welsh man who in 2013 threw out a hard drive with 7500 BTC now worth more than $150 million but many hackers and engineers already tried to recover his funds and were not successful.
