Despite not being as popular as fiat currency ATMs, bitcoin ATMs are spreading around the world with the speed of light. They are becoming more popular as the cryptocurrency gains popularity as well. As of today, there are over 3.000 bitcoin ATMs installed around the world.
According to various ATM radars that track all the locations where you can find one, it shows that despite the many fluctuations in price, there is almost no impact on the pace that these ATMs are being installed. Data shows that most of these ATMs (about 1.800) support different altcoins such as litecoin and ether. These incredible statistics comes just after 17 months when the total number of bitcoin ATMs surpassed 1.000.
What is remarkable is that the largest concentration of ATMs globally is in North America with more than 2.500 ATMs installed which is basically more than 70% of the total number of ATMs around the world. Right after North America is Europe with far fewer installations where UK and Austria lead as the countries with the highest number of ATMs installed and just right after these two is the Czech Republic and finally Russia.
The most interesting part is that no matter the slurp in the price, manufacturers continue to install new bitcoin ATMs with an accelerating pace. Also, manufacturers are trying new options for consumers where users can now buy and sell cryptocurrencies via one machine only. This will bring to many more new ATMs being installed globally.
