Retail Giant Elektra Mexico And Nexon Start Accepting Bitcoin

The Retail Giant Elektra from Mexico and the Asian game developer Nexon are the two companies that embraced cryptocurrenices as a payment method as we are reading more today in our latest Bitcoin news.

One of the biggest supermarket chains in Mexico- Elektra, allowed the customers to pay their bills in BTC instead of fiat currencies so process the crypto payments, the company partnered with BitPay. At the same time, the South Koran video game publisher Nexon will enable players to purchase in-game items with crypto.

The retail giant Elektra is the firs retail store in Mexico to accept BTC as a payment method and the company explained that the customers that pay for their products in BTC will apply for a 20% discount on their bills with the promotion being valid until the end of December. Despite the plenty of merits of cryptocurrenices, they are famous for their volatile nature and on that note, the retail chain assured that returns or cancellation made after completing a BTC payment will result in a refund in Mexican pesos for the same amount paid at the intiail transaction. Elektra warned about the risks of dealing with digital assets and the company said It will not be accountable for losses, scams or mismanagements:

“The user accepts and recognizes that the access, use, and security of his wallet is the sole responsibility of the user and at no time is Elektra, nor will be responsible for the access, use, and security of the user’s wallet.”

Elektra was founded in 1950 and has expanded to more than 1000 locations in Mexico ever since. It stretches to the United States as well, but also Panama, Peru, Honduras and Guatemala. Elektra’s owner is Ricardo Salinas Pliego who is a well-known bitcoin bull that showed his support towards the crypto sector plenty of times. A few weeks ago, he advised investors to enter the BTC ecosystem as fast as possible and Salinas Pliego known as the third-richest person in Mexico described the main cryptocurrency as the new digital gold.

Another major company partnered with BitPay to start accepting digital assets as a means of payments and that is Nexon. The players will get the chance to buy games like KartRider, Mabinogi, V4, Vindictus and more, by using 11 cryptocurrencies. Apart from BTC, these include Doge, Bitcoin Cash, Ether, Wrapped Bitcoin, Binance Coin, Litecoin, Gemini Dollar, Paxos Standard and USD coin. The video game publisher revealed the reason for the initiative being the growign interest that the players showed recently:
