PizzaDAO will host a worldwide pizza party by having local pizzerias in more than 75 countries distribute free Pizza due to the Bitcoin Pizza Day. The platform will sponsor more than 100 local pizzerias from 75 countries and will give away free pizza to celebrate Pizza day on May 22. PizzaDAO will use the revenue from the Rare Pizza project to fund the event and the Rare Pizzas collection included 10,000 generative baked NFTs created by more than 300 topping artists around the world.
PizzaDAO’s biggest supporters, Chong and Cheech, Steve Aoki, Seth green, and 13-time World Pizza Champion Tony Gemignani are among the many who join and promote the event which will also raise funds for a few charities. Gemignani commented:
“Working with PizzaDAO has been such a great collaboration and we are looking forward to helping to pizza the planet on 5/22/22! I love that the pizza can help so many people – charity, hospitals, firefighters, or just your neighbour…. everyone loves pizza and we are happy to be involved.”
The world’s biggest pizza party will take place in popular spots in Sydney, Buenos Aires, London, Chicago, Boston, and Vancouver but also in the streets of New York in Little Italy, San Francisco Temple Nightclub, and the 99th floor of the Willis Tower. PizzaDAO was established back in 2021 with the idea that the Pizza should be free and accessible for everyone so the project leverages Web3 tools which bring capital to provide inclusion and to support independent businesses to scale better. The PizzaDAO founder Snax said:
“We want to change the world by using blockchain to enable community ownership of small businesses. Just like Bitcoin introduced a societal shift in the way humans collaborate, trade and prove ownership, PizzaDAO aims to empower small businesses to grow by bringing pizzerias on-chain, raising funds to give pizza away for free, and building strong locally-focused communities around the world.”
The project has over 400 pizzerias in the network and spent up to $400 thousand to provide free pizza throughout the establishments. Hanyecz who is a programmer from Florida was an early BTC miner and posted on a forum, offering 10,000 BTC in exchange for the two biggest pizzas. He didn’t receive any responses until May 22 and someone pointed out that 10,000 BTC were worth $41 which was too much for the two biggest pizzas and followed up with the offer and bought too big pizzas with 10,000 BTC.
