Six years ago, we got introduced to Bitcoin. Six months ago, there was news about Bitcoin being accepted by companies worldwide as a payment system. However, it’s true that we should expect anything from this cryptocurrency ecosystem, especially in times of constant changes.
What’s bothering many people at this point are the Bitcoin payments. According to recent news, there is a host of companies that are either turning away from Bitcoin or doing a U-turn. After Microsoft announced that after almost three years it would stop accepting Bitcoin, Steam followed and canceled its use of Bitcoin as a payment system a month ago.
The North American Bitcoin Conference also failed to sell tickets via Bitcoin which put many fingers to the heads and made people wonder if Bitcoin is still going to be accepted as a payment method.

What’s strange is that no one knows why this is happening. It’s true that the platform was having problems defining itself as a digital currency or as digital gold. Due to its nature, it was defined democratically as SegWit2x – but even that was not taken up because of many reasons.
The fluid nature of Bitcoin’s evolution is something no one can predict. While some are sure that bitcoin could still become very useful and viable, the latest news are not going in the same direction.
So, do you think that Bitcoin has what it takes to continue being implemented as a payment system – on a large scale – in 2018?
