New York University Adds ‘Crypto’ Major And Sees Massive Interest

The New York University, known as NYU, is one of the most prestigious colleges in the United States. Today, the NYU went viral in the latest crypto news because of its latest offering of the first crypto major course in the US.

According to a professor named Andrew Hinkes, the institution will help students understand what Bitcoin, blockchain and the business implications of crypto are – and how could they be used in today’s society.

As he stated:

“We hope to establish a groundwork so that the students can understand what’s really happening under the hood, so that they can understand both the legal and the business implications, and prepare them to go out and tackle this new market.”

Meanwhile, the demand for crypto-related courses at colleges has increased significantly throughout this year. Prestigious universities such as MIT and Stanford also started offering programs that cover cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology.

David Yermack is the head of the finance department chair at NYU. Commenting the recent news, he stated that the students who previously graduated at the college are even coming back to take crypto courses and gain a better understanding of the rapidly growing market.

“There’s a few people who graduated some years ago but have come back to sit in on this just because of the novelty and the edginess of the topic,”

The integration of the crypto and blockchain technology into NYU’s major courses is expected to lead an initiative to other prestigious and well-known institutions in the US in offering similar programs.
